The Cops for Tots Fund was established by the Greer Police Department and is a community program that helps purchase gifts for under priviledge children so they can have gifts to open on Christmas Day.
Each year the Cops for Tots program has grown from it start of one family now to over 350 families a year with this program. This is the department's third annual golf tournament and it is a major source of funding for the Cops for Tots program. Participants and sponsors of the tournament provide a significant portion of the current program spending.
In 2007, the Greer Police Department set a goal to increase the number of families that it has helped in the previous years. The success of the Cops for Tots Golf Tournament is critical factor in the Department's ability to reach this goal.
