got junk?

Bring it to the City of Greer's Amnesty Day

Ready to do some early spring cleaning?

Residents of the City of Greer who are ready to dispose of items that are not usually collected during normal curbside pick-up will be pleased to know that the city’s 2008 Amnesty Day is scheduled from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 29.

Items may be dropped off at the City of Greer Public Services Department located at 315 Buncombe Street (just off Brushy Creek Rd. near Main St.). City employees will be on hand to assist with the items, which will be collected by Ace Environmental.

“Amnesty Day is an opportunity for city residents only to dispose of such household items as paint and paint thinner, mineral spirits, car batteries, tires, transmission fluid, anti-freeze, motor and cooking oils, and pesticides. We also will be collecting televisions, computers, and other electronic items for the first time,” Municipal Services Manager Lindsay Ellis said.  “Normal residential items may still be placed at the curb for regular collection.”

Items that will not be accepted include commercial waste, petroleum products, unknown substances, and substances in leaking containers.  The city reserves the right to refuse any items that are unacceptable or excessive.
